I'm DROWNING!

In fabric, yarn, and microfiber!

I realized last night that I have a TON of fabric because not only did I have to iron on the floor because my ironing board is full of fabric, but I have a bag of fabric that I haven't even done anything with since I bought it 2 weeks ago. AND.. shhhh don't tell anyone, but I still haven't received what I ordered from another Order I made.

I usually have at least 3 different skeins of yarn on my desk and yes 3 unfinished projects to go with it. I do have 2 finished projects on the desk today. Oh no wait I have like 5 I forgot about my little turtles.

So today I am determined to at least put some of it away if not finish up some of the projects I have going.

Yes I am a Supply-A-Holic... what's your story?

Soapy Shot Glasses.....2nd Attempt

Well, the first attempt at Soap Shot Glasses didn't go so great...so I found silicone molds on Ebay and tried again. I'm still not happy with it, the molds were still difficult to remove and the glass itself ended up not being as thick as I'd have liked. But nonetheless, I made some and here you go:)

Sex is the winner!

Well it looks like, according to our poll...a huge majority of you would give up sex for crafting supplies!!! This is pretty darn funny (and pretty sad for those of us with spouses who do not know we'd give up sex for supplies!!)

So if we'd give up sex for supplies...there should be a drastic drought of babies being born to crafters right? :)

Soapy Shot Glasses...

Well...............

Sooooo, the soapy shot glasses using the Ice Shot Glass maker from Bed Bath and Beyond...well, not so much worky. I managed to get some shot glasses out of it, but they really weren't all that. They were a PITA to get out of the mold. (I had forgotten to lubricate the mold before I poured them in....I apparently forgot the soapsicle fiasco of last summer...) But you know what, lesson learned! And it was not a loss-- I had my friend over from work, we made soap for a work party and had fun!! And, I got on Ebay and within minutes found 2 silicone (Man I love silicone molds) for under 10 bucks including shipping. They still made usable and nice smelling soaps and my coworkers enjoyed them!! :)

So I promise, when I get the silicone molds in and make REAL soap shot glasses, I will post pics! :)

In the meantime..what crafting fiasco's have you had? What awesome plans did you have that went horribly awry?

You know you've got it bad when...

When you agree to swap fabric for sewing. The lovely Amy and I have become fast friends and it really helps that she only lives 25 minutes away and she has 2 boys near my boys age. She's really cool too. So the other day I helped her figure out if she could really afford to hire someone to help her make her swiffer pads. When the numbers were crunched it just wasn't worth it in the end. I did tell her that if she found herself in a bind give me a call.

Weeeelll... she called. Poor thing with a day job and no time to craft, I really feel for her. So you really have it bad when you agree to sew for a friend and trade fabric and sewing supplies for your labor. I honestly would do it just to help her out, but shhh don't tell her because she has some awesome fabric just waiting for me to grab. LOL

I had  a dream about shopping in her sewing room last night. HA HA!

What would you do for fabric??

Newest Supply Purchase....Soap Shot Glass Mold!

I am super excited about this mold I found at Bed, Bath and Beyond yesterday.

It's supposed to be for 'ice shot glasses' but I plan to use it to make soap shot glasses! I've put my soap shop on sale and soon vacation because I need a break from it, but I am excited about this! It will be nice to make some soap for me, no pressure, just for fun! I can't wait to play with this thing!

I'll be sure to post pics when I get going with them!

What nifty supplies have you bought lately!?

More Yarn

Ok so you remember my picture a few weeks ago of all that yarn.. well I did it again. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought 12 more skeins of yarn, oh no wait it was 14.

Let me tell you the adventure I had to go on to get those 2 skeins (the only ones I NEEDED)....

So Friday I headed to my "local" Hobby Lobby (it's about 25 min. ride). I stopped by the fabric section because I'm adding another product and I needed some cute cotton prints. I then decided that it was time for me to find the pattern for the apron I've wanted to sew for some months now. I found the pattern and then got the fabric I needed. Fifty dollars later I was headed out the door. I got all the way to the exit for my house and realized I didn't get the yarn I needed. It was almost time for the store to close so there was no going back.

The next day I write a list of what I need at the 3 stores I'm going to go to in the area to make my 2nd trip in two days worth it. I get to Target and look for my list... NO LIST! Don't you hate that? I do remember what I needed there, good thing it was only one thing. LOL! I head to Hobby Lobby and get more yarn, I guess I really did need some of it, but maybe not 12 skeins. I go to the grocery where I can find some of the food my boys can have (they have major food sensitivities), I finish up there get on the interstate in hopes of getting the boys home before they fall asleep so they can eat lunch. I was running my "list" in my head and 5 min into the trip I realize that I forgot the 1 yarn color I needed the most. AHHH! I'm so glad I was about 1 mile from the next exit so I could easily turn around and go back.

So I finally get what I needed and the boys got to eat Wendy's. I felt so funny asking for two hamburger patties with nothing on them. I have no clue if it was completely safe, but at that point it was too late in the day to worry about it, I had to feed them something.

YOU know its bad when....

So I went to Joanns yesterday to price a few things out, the internet is great and all but I want to see and touch not just assume. So anyways, me and the kids are at Joanns, I had no intention of buying anything, but Davin kept finding things I needed. So YOU know its bad when your children help aid you in your addiction or enable you to want more.

Ohh and has any one seen the Husqverna (sorry I know I spelled it wrong) serger at Joanns, it is the big one with the computer screen on it. I AM IN LOVE. I told me old serger mama needed it to croak so she can go buy the big sexy machine at Joanns. LOL.

Do your kids try to help you purchase items "you need" while at the stores? IF so please tell, I dont want to be the only one. LOL>

Street Fair Prep

Mama's Little Monkey's, Quibby's Bows and I will be at the Picayune Street Fair.

To prepare for said Street Fair I went to Michale's and Hobby Lobby about 2 weeks ago. I spent just about all my money on yarn. My wonderful best friend had given me $50 gift certificate so I was able to get some scrapbooking supplies for my other habit.

So in all the chaos of getting ready for this... here are some pics to make you smile. This is my "craft" room. It's a corner of my living room. I'm just so thankful that my hubby got me a dishwasher so I can spend more time making stuff. HA HA!

Some finished, some not so finished projects. All my scrapbooking stuff in the back. I really need to buy one of those organizers for that.

I was in the middle of making a hat last night and got too tired to finish.

I cleaned off my sewing table the other day to fill a wipes order and it just got stacked here. Yes that is more yarn.

My yarn drawer is overflowing....

Into this box....

The cleanest place in my craft corner.

I found the last stash of the forest animal print on the Internet that I'm aware of and bought the last 3 yards. If you know anyone who has this print let me know. It's my most popular print for wipes and they've discontinued it. I'm hoping it will be back in the fall. This will all be wipes by the end of the weekend.

Happy Crafting!
Tell anyone you know in the South MS, or LA area to come by the Street Fair and check us out. We will have a TON of cute things.

Spring Inspired Craftiness

Today is officially the first day of Spring here in the US...so I'm told! Here in Southern Louisiana...we only  have two seasons, hurricane and football...

But I digress....spring is a fabulous time to get inspired creatively! Things are blooming, green, colors are vibrant. It's the perfect time to reevaluate what you do, why you do it, and how can you change things? How can YOU grow as an artisan?

I'm  a big fan of Tip Junkie, and was happy to find this post on Easter/Spring ideas.

What nifty things do you have planned for spring? Personally I am still on a purge..purge the house, purge the toys, purge my life to make it simpler! Having a new full time job really cuts into my creative time but I am learning to make do and enjoy the simple things I can do to feed my creativity.

What inspires you by Spring?

Now on the Supplyaholic front....

I have been severally deprived of my supply use since I began working full time. You would THINK this would slow down my supply BUYING right?

NO! Silly me! In the past few weeks I have purchased:

4 orders from fabric.com (damn sale emails. I really must unsubscribe)
Badge reels ID holders and Badge reels with keychains.
Little tiny chinese food containers for me to package my fabric fortune cookies in...which turned out to be way smaller than I thought..but it's okay, we'll work with it...

And I have yet ANOTHER cover button buy in the works. That one is totally not my fault. Okay, so it's a lot my fault--I have created button making addicts.

What can I say? I gotta share my addiction!

My Oh My, That's A Lot Of Supplies

I was putting together a new supply order a couple weeks ago, of course when I hear "sale" I have to stock up. Well before I knew it, the order was over $1000. Now I know that is out of my price range and I admit that I went a wee bit overboard. So I had to cut down that list to something that was more realistic. I ended up cutting it to more than half of what it was when I first started. I was thankful for the beautiful tax check that made me feel a little better about spending that much.

Well, the box of supplies finally came today. I open it up to see it packed to the gills. I opened it up and just about died. I really didn't think I ordered that much. Good news is that this was a combined order with my mom, so I don't have to find a place to put all of this, only half of it.

Low and behold, I finally get it sorted all out and I am totally amazed at what I actually got.
How they fit everything into this box is completely beyond me. I would really love to know how my stuff is multiplying right before my eyes. I swear these supplies are worse than rabbits. I know it all fit in the box when they shipped it to me. But now it seems that it is now taking over. Even my kitties that thought it was all fun and games when I began to unpack everything are feeling that they are loosing ground on the bed. I honestly have no idea what would have happened if I had not needed to cut back and went through with the original cart.

Either way, I have a ton of supplies and now I get to sit down and put them all away. Sad thing is I just went through and organized all my stuff. Now I think I will need to get more boxes.

Now once I put in a ring order I should be set for a while. Hopefully, as long as I stay away from anything that says, "SALE".

Crafty Giveaway #1--Hungry Caterpillar Pendant

Alrighty supplyaholics....now is your chance to win a lil piece of my craftiness! Apparently Eric Carle's lawyers have got a corn cob up their behind and are trolling sites like Etsy. Normally I am not one who uses 'trademarked' fabric, but I love me some Very Hungry Caterpillar. So I used a little snippet of the fabric to make a glass tile pendant.

Apparently Mr. Carle's lawyers are on the hunt and they had Etsy pull my listing. Well you know what...Mr. Carle..now I"m GIVING IT AWAY! HAHAHHAHAHAH That doesn't break any copyrights and BLLEEEHWHHWHW on you.

Don't get me wrong, I think trademarks, copyrights, etc are all very important..but let's be real. I'm one mom working from home..not a huge company who's going to put Eric Carle out of business.....seeing as he could never write another book and his great, great, great, great, great grandchildren will still be set for life. And let's not mention that Mr. Carle got his piece of the pie when I PURCHASED said fabric at retail prices!

SOOOOOO my loss is your gain! You can now win said Very Hungry Caterpillar pendant! What to do? Just leave me a comment on anything! Share your fave craft, new projects, your links, blogs, WHATEVER! Just make sure I have  a way to FIND you when you win!!!

You're Forced to Choose ONE Craft Medium...

What would it be? Many of us do several craft mediums, like I do sewing, melt and pour soaps, some paper crafts and whatever lil odds and ends I can get my hands on.

But suppose you were being held hostage and your captors had a soft spot for handmade art, and they allowed you to keep ONE craft....what would it be?

For me, sewing and fabric NO DOUBT. I love soap, I love paper, but I REAAAALLY love fabric!

What's your ONE thing?

What's New? What's for Sale?

Share with us!! I'd like to take a moment to let you know what we have for sale in Destash City that's new. Why? Well, for one, well, because I can...and for two, you KNOW you want to see it. If you are following this blog you are a supplyaholic too. Go ahead, admit it...it's OKAY. We'll hold your hand.

I've added some buttons and zippers to Destash City on Artfire and some fabric yo yo's and Riley Blake on Etsy

What do you have for sale that us supplyaholics can lust after? What new finds have you gotten?

Personally I'm jonesing..I haven't been able to sew in awhile due to life, illness and other to-do's. I finished a huge load of badge reels and some pendants (which I still haven't listed because I haven't gotten pics!). I NEED TO SEW. But will I get to sew soon? NOPE. Our family has to recover from the flu and catch up on what didn't get done while we were sick. And then there's taxes to do. Ugh.

Soooooooooooo show us what you got!!! Or do you know of a good sale? SHARE! :)

A bit of a problem

So much like our dear mamaslittlemonkeys, I have a hoarding problem, but mine is just fabric. LOL.

So I noticed the other day this pile of fabric up in my room, hubby asked me what it was doing seperate from all the rest. I told Him I was saving it for a special project, not going in to much detail, just I need it there and please dont move it. Truth is, the fabric is too pretty to cut. Yes I admit it, I put some fabric away after buying it because it is simply too pretty to use.

SO

My name is Jonie and I have a problem. I buy fabric and stash it in a corner because it is too pretty to use.

Do any of yall do this or am I the only crazy person here.

What to do, What to do... Buy more Supplies!

I think I seriously need a 12 step program. As if its not bad enough that I don't have enough room for the supplies I have now....

Okay actually, lets stop there and examine that statement. I have a 6 foot bookcase that is filled up with fishing tackle boxes. I have boxes stacked up in the bedroom too. So it's really anyone's guess as to how many boxes I really have. And to think that I still don't have enough room or boxes to put away the bags of supplies I have left.

Now, one would think that the rational person would use up some of these supplies before buying more. Right? Ha, wrong! Yeah, as if it's not bad enough that I still haven't found homes from the supply run 2 months ago, and all those in between then and now, I am still buying more supplies.

Now you may ask if I am buying the supplies for a custom piece or for an order. Well, technically yes and no. Some of what I have picked out are for special projects but most of it is just random things that I just can't live without.

So, what's the damage? You would think that it wouldn't be that bad except I just had to cut an order down that was over $1000! Yikes, that was a bit more than I could handle. Not to mention the 50 some dollar order that I am about to place for jump rings for my chainmaille. Plus, lets see... Cool new supplies that my local craft store got in, can't live without those. Another craft store is going out of business, so they are having a sale. Did I mention, SALE! And I'm sure there are some things that I am forgetting, but I think you get the point.

So why oh why am I still looking for more supplies. Plus the fact that I actually said to myself earlier, "I don't have enough supplies. I don't have what I need." What the heck was I thinking?

Oh yeah, I need to buy more supplies. Yeah, I think I need help. Yes, I am addicted to supplies. And oddly enough, I'm okay with that.

What would you do for a deal

So we Supply-a-Holics are not just hoarders of the stuff we create with. We also can't pass up a deal. So share with us your story of the most "unethical" or creative method of getting a deal.

I'll go first...

I have 2 sons, ages 3 and 4. When I was starting out my Etsy shop I was fairly broke so I needed to get any and all supplies the cheapest I could. So I would go to a certain retailer that offered 40% off coupons every week. I would print out a bunch and me and the boys would go shopping. I would be able to get 3 items at 40% off each day I went. Of course I would buy more than 3 items if I needed stuff in the same dye lot. ;)

One day I went to a different retailer and was told my children could not be used to get me additional discounts. A week later I was told by the cashier that they were threatened with termination if they were allowing children to check out items, that the coupons were "one per household". HMMM... if they were one "per household" why does the coupon say one "per customer".

Maybe it's borderline "unethical" to use your children to get added discounts, but I say when you're broke you have to do what you have to do. :)

So what lengths have you gone to to get that deal?

469.00 Worth of Cover Buttons on the wall....

Take one down, pass it around...

I got my order of cover buttons in...they are nearly all sent out to those who helped contribute to the buy (THANK YOU!)

And yes, I've plowed my way through quite a few of them....

Here is what 469.00 worth of cover buttons are. In case you're wondering that is 2880 buttons in sizes ranging from size 20-60.

And I mindnumbingly counted out about 800 or more (I lost track...) for my other button addicts...

If you have NO idea what cover buttons are..they go from that to:

So you see why I would be obsessed...

The First Step....

is admitting you have a problem.

Hello, my name is Amy and I am a supplyaholic. At this very moment I have some GORGEOUS fabrics in my cart at fabric.com. I do not NEED said fabrics. And I am doing my best to leave them there and wait and see! I already have more fabric than I can fit in an armoire plus roughly 15-20 yards coming via mail in time.....I MUST BE STOPPED!

Complicating this matter is I haven't had TIME to sew lately! Soaping has kept me a little busy since the fabulous New Orleans Saints are going to the Superbowl and I just so happen to make Saint's soaps! Then of course there are the children, housewifery duties and ridding the world of all evil...

Then there are the buttons. 469.00 worth of cover buttons. OH. MY. GOD. They are all counted and sorted and ready to be shipped to those who purchased and the rest are for me to use/sell. It was actually quite mind clearing to sit and count that many buttons! 2,4,6,8,.....Now to remember to move the money from Paypal to the bank to cover that credit card purchase for 469.00 worth of buttons!

So today, perhaps I shall get some button making done while the kid rests, perhaps I shall sew, or perhaps I shall nap myself as I am attempting to get a full time job and if I get it, will not have TIME for naps!

So confess it people...what supplies have YOU bought lately? What is on your drawing board for creating??
